MCHC Rock the Boat
Principal Steve Van Ness accompanied by his wife Janet Van Ness, public health consultant at John Snow, Inc., attended the 19th annual ‘Rock the Boat’ fundraising gala in early May. Launched in 1997, the event raises funds to support the work of the Mattapan Community Health Center (MCHC) and honors individuals who are making significant contributions to the Community Health Center movement. The special honors of the evening went to Dr. Brian Jack of Boston Medical Center and Elise Lapham of Cimpress, recipients of the Community Health Pinnacle Award.
Steve, who served as the Project Executive for the design and construction of MCHC’s new facility, received a special thank you from Dr. Azzie Young, CEO of the Health Center. In her remarks, Dr. Young mentioned the facility’s recent BSA Healthcare Design Award win, and described the award as "the Academy Awards of Architecture," and stated how proud she was of the building.
